Just a peek at the back

Today I am just quickly letting you see what I have been doing lately. I had this urge to put writting on the back of my postage stamp quilt, a message to me you could say. I am going through a stage in my life right now that has left me feeling well out of sorts. I felt that the words may help to encourage me not to give up. So here they are:

I now have decided to quilt a plaid like pattern over my quilt, I am getting excited as it is now so close to fully completed.
Bye for now

100 Blocks

Today I came across this at my local newsagent

Yay I finally got it. I needed to find some small projects so this will be perfect. There are so many lovely blocks, and I plan to make many of them.

Since it has been pretty hot here I decided to just quickly make one up. I picked Boxed In, by Julie at Jaybird Quilts, ever since I saw her block I have wanted to do it.Now I love how beautiful this came together, totally love this pattern, I think I would like to make a quilt using this one. It is really that nice to sew.
I need to get moving with quilting my latest quilts so I will be making a few blocks to give me some time away from quilting, um I don't like quilting as much as I like to piece, I need to baste Greenfield and finish the backing for postage stamp. I think I will be busy enough. Bye for today

Postage Stamp completed

Today I am just so happy, this is why I quilt. I am so proud of this quilt. I have just finished it and I just couldn't be happier with it. The quilt top came together so easily it was a dream to sew. I am not sure how I should quilt it though, possibly just through the solid squares.

I have completed a tablecloth top too out of Greenfield, I thought the fabric was the perfect choice, I will talk about this more in my next post

So now I have to go and baste these beauties. Have a great day

Yay, I have done my blocks

I have just completed all my blocks for the postage stamp Quilt Along. I got all stressed at first, after I had sewed about six or so I thought only another 42 to go. Once I stopped looking at it like that and just piled them into groups of five I just flew through it. The picture is only about half of the blocks.
Now I am trying not to think about how many little squares are in this quilt. I also managed to slip a little pink in, which I love. I think this quilt is lovely and I believe it will be a favourite of mine.

I hope your weekend has been lots of fun

Todays efforts

Today I have done more of my postage stamp quilt. I have lots of cut strips, I really like how they are looking. I have 6 blocks out of 48 done.

I made this little fella today, he is from the Lark stitch along. I thought that it would be fun to use pencils on the areas. (I used Prismacolor pecils, they seemed to work best) In case you are wondering without any sort of fixative they will wash out, definitely. So these will be for a wall quilt. My daughter who helped me with the colour selection has asked if it can go to her when it is finished.(She is so sweet, I am happy that she likes it so much)

Look what I made today..

Today I made this cute little pin cushion. The pattern came from Scandinavian Stitches. (only I didn't free motion stitch my writing) It was so much fun to make, I am a little rusty with embroidery stitches so I think I will do more small projects that include it this year. There is a doodle stitch along at http://www.larkcrafts.com/ I think it would be great to join in.

My Dream On Quilt

Here is my Dream on Quilt, fresh off the washing line. (I don't press because the creases will fall out as it is used) The pattern came from the moda bake shop, it is the awesome quilt designed by Jamie Mueller   http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/11/awesome-lap-quilt.html

I simply love it, I am so happy with the quilting, it was worth the extra effort. I love the colours of this quilt and it has such a happy feeling to it. I really like this line of fabrics, I am thinking I really should get some more before it is all gone. This is my first quilt finish for 2011, I think that is a pretty good start.

Greenfield arrived today from Pink Chalk, I am so excited, yes I have already started to cut this one. The moment I saw it I knew what I wanted to do with it. I have to get a little more to complete my project but the moment I have something to show it will be here to see.
Bye for now

Some Progress

Today I have finished sewing the strips together for the Postage Stamp Quilt Along. It didn't take too long to sew the strips together. I did my very best cutting with these strips..that made me happy.

I simply love the Hope Valley fabrics, they are my favourite of all time. Since I have always wanted to make a postage stamp quilt it seemed the right choice of fabric. I am loving it.

Now back to quilting, I am nearly finished I will post a pic when it is done.

A Decision....?

OK today I decided that I might use hope valley withModa Bella solids in natural for the postage stamp quilt along. I really wanted to try pink, like a really pastel one but it just didn't look right with the greens. I always find it hard to pick colours, in my mind I saw something a lot different. Well I may still change my mind yet but maybe I should just go with it. I saw one was going to be made in Neptune ( oh I so love those fabrics) I must remember to post a pic of the Neptune Quilt that I made for my husband, I love it so much. I have been busy quilting this weekend I am hoping to have it finished in a couple of days, I will post a pic when complete.

Have a good weekend

Keyka Lou Wallet

I have been working on these just lately. I have loved making them, especially the patchwork one, that is so sweet. They take hardly any time to make. I made these to hold my mobile phone, a card or two and maybe a little bit of money, rather than taking my bag out all of the time. (Keyka lou is on etsy and Pink Chalk has downloadable patterns also)

My blog has been set up to document my quiting journey. I will put posts up that will explore colour, a variety of blocks and most likely a few mini quilts along the way. I will post larger quilts that I make also. I like to read quilting books and will post any that I find really good or inspiring. I hope that you will join me on my journey.

A Quick Hello

I have taken the leap into the world of blogging.  I must admit I am a bit nervous and I will have to hunt out some pictures to post???? OK I haven't thought this out too well. I decided to do this when I decided to start a quilt along with PS I Quilt. Rachel has an excellent blog, if you haven't already seen it you should check it out. I have got no idea yet what I will make mine out of yet and I just get all flustered when I start to think about it. I really worry too much, but I am so looking forward to making a postage stamp quilt, I have wanted to make one for so long so now is the time.
